Micro Credit & Micro Finance Have emerged as a useful tool to fulfill the credit needs of the poor. Self Help Groups, as a village institution, can play a significant role in improving. the life of women. Efforts were made in the direction of linking these groups with different developmental schemes being implemented by government. A total number of 30 groups were formed out of that 20 groups have been successfully linked with the banks.
GVEPS has extended an assistance of rupees One Lac to these groups in terms of revolving fund. The fund is being used for extending the loan to group members for both the consumption as well as production purposes.
The situation of dalit women in the area has been grim and requires specific to be dealt with. GVePS along with some likeminded organizations and individuals has taken the initiative in the direction of raising the voice of dalit women through a platform called “Dalit Forum“.
After the 73rd amendment in the constitution of India the participation of women in the PRIs has increased significantly. However, in the proper orientation and training it is difficult for these new representatives to perform their duties as per the expectation of the masses. In order to cater the capacity building needs of the PRI representatives of its working area GVEPS organized one day orientation camps. The objective of the orientation was to enhance the understanding level of PRI representatives on the issue of their rights and duties as public representatives.
